Innovation Society introduces teachers' training course TEACH-NANO

The Innovation Society has developed a training course for teachers on secondary school levels I and II. The course gives an overview of nanotechnology fundamentals (technology, economy, society) and on the same time presents practical experiments for science classes in schools.

The course is currently offered for teachers in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen and efforts to include it in the curriculum of other cantons are under way. The course will be taught by experts in the area of nanotechnology with own teaching experience. Participants will receive an extensive documentation with background and demonstration material for study design closely oriented on the practical use of nanotechnology.

The course is divided in two modules:

Module 1 (1 day):

  • Fundamentals
  • Literatur, AV media, CD with TV features, interactive DVD NanoWorlds
  • Experimental set-ups
  • Student experiments with "experiments suitcase" NanoTool Box

Module 2 (1/2 day, optionally)

  • Field-trip to a company or research institution specialised on nanotechnology

Interested school are invited to directly contact Dr. Christoph Meili for further information.
