The third \"SimplyNano<\/span> 2\" training course in the canton of Graub\u00fcnden<\/span> took place at TRUMPF<\/span> Schweiz<\/span> AG in Gr\u00fcsch<\/span>. On June 3, 19 upper and middle school teachers used the afternoon to gain new impetus for their STEM lessons. The focus was on the fascinating world of nanotechnology<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n

Nano<\/span> experiments with reference to everyday life<\/strong><\/p>\n\nWe encounter nanotechnology every day, for example in plastics, in special coatings or in textiles. Because nanoparticles are invisible to the naked eye, the experiments in \u201cSimplyNano 2\u201d provide a clear, practical approach. They help to arouse interest in the tiny particles and make their special properties understandable.
In the main part of the course, the participants were active themselves. The 19 teachers from Graub\u00fcnden carried out the experiments independently and tested the associated learning materials. Experiments that were directly linked to everyday phenomena, such as the diaper experiment with superabsorbent nanomaterials or the gecko effect, which makes adhesive forces impressively visible, were particularly well received. Many teachers also emphasized how easily and directly the materials can be used in the classroom.

A guest at TRUMPF Schweiz AG in Gr\u00fcsch<\/strong>

The training course was hosted by TRUMPF Schweiz AG at its Gr\u00fcsch site. As an internationally active industrial company, TRUMPF Switzerland is active at several locations in Switzerland and combines development, production and services under one roof. In Gr\u00fcsch, the teachers were given a practical insight into a modern technology and production environment and learned about various fields of activity that work together to ensure smooth operations.
At the same time, the focus was on training opportunities: TRUMPF Switzerland is currently training 50 apprentices in 10 apprenticeships, making it one of the most important training companies in the region. Many apprentices are taken on after completing their apprenticeship, which shows that training and promoting young talent is a high priority.

Support from the region<\/strong>

The experiment kits and all associated teaching materials are provided to the schools free of charge. The project is made possible thanks to the support of various foundations, companies and associations. The SimplyScience Foundation is the publisher of the offer. The teaching materials were developed by Innovationsgesellschaft St. Gallen, which places particular emphasis on practical, understandable and easy-to-implement lessons.
