2nd Webinar: Managing Nano Risk – Implementation of a Risk Management System for Nanomaterials

Synthetic nanomaterials are used in a growing number of consumer and industrial products due to their nanospecific properties. The specific properties of nanomaterials (e.g. weight, strength, reactivity, stability etc.) can either mean opportunities but on the other hand also bear risks. Scientific studies have shown that certain nanomaterials could affect human health and the environment.

For a company it is difficult to judge whether there are hidden risks to workers or customers due to uncertainty in health, safety and environmental (HSE) data. Furthermore it is difficult for a company to anticipate the future development in regulation globally. The webinar also provides a short overview over the present risk profile of nanotechnology and synthetic nanomaterials. An enterprise-wide risk management system approach is presented. The tool of the "360°-risk-monitoring" and "InRiNa" (Innovation and Risk-Navigator) will be presented. The risk management system together with the monitoring tools provide a useful "Early-Warning-System" based on the state of science and technology.
