"Experiments make it easier to get young people interested in science"

The award-winning SimplyNano project aims to introduce young people, especially girls, to science and technology careers. It consists of experimental kits that teachers in secondary schools can use for lessons.

The SimplyNano project from the Simply Science Foundation and the St.Gallen Innovation Society has won the Building Award. This in the category of promoting young talent in the field of technology. "We are proud to be the winner in this category," says Christoph Meili, Managing Director of the Innovation Society. "It's a confirmation that with this project we are pursuing a goal that is important for engineers in Switzerland and should promote young talent."

How this project should inspire young people for science and technology - in TOP Ufsteller:

The SimplyNano project is a learning medium that teachers can use at the secondary level. "It consists of two experiment kits with more than 40 experiments," Meili said. "They are non-hazardous experiments that can be done in the classroom." The project also includes continuing education courses for teachers to learn about the experiments themselves.

Five cantons are already equipped with the cases. "We now hope that thanks to this prize, our project will be even better known," says Christoph Meili. Natural science and technical subjects are often a dry subject, he says. "With experiments that are exciting and have something to do with life, it's much easier to get young people excited about the subject."
