EU nanomaterials observatory updated with two searchable databases

The European Union Observatory for Nanomaterials (EUON) features two searchable databases: NanoData, a knowledge base on nano science and technology and the eNanoMapper that helps you find safety information about nanomaterials.

The EUON website has been updated with new information about nanomaterials within the EU regulatory framework, how they are used in different sectors, such as food, medicine and environmental research, and how to use nanomaterials safely at work. The content is available in 23 EU languages.

In addition, two databases are now accessible through the EUON.

·         NanoData
Contains data on different products, research projects, publications, patents and companies and helps you to visualise statistics quickly through built-in charts and graphs. The data can also be easily filtered by different sectors and geographic location. The database can be used for example by consumers interested in finding out about products that use nanotechnology.

·         eNanoMapper
Gives access to one of the largest data sources currently available on the toxicological properties of nanomaterials. The data originates from several research projects, including the results of the EU funded NanoREG project. The eNanoMapper can be used by anybody interested in finding toxicological data on specific nanomaterials.

The EUON home page has also been revamped with more dynamic content including the latest news on nanomaterials and nanotechnology from the web.

Background

The European Union Observatory for Nanomaterials (EUON) provides information about nanomaterials on the EU market. Whether you are developing policies in the area, representing industry or a green NGO, or you are a consumer, the information on the EUON offers interesting reading about the safety, innovation, research and uses of nanomaterials.

The EUON is funded by the European Commission. It is hosted and maintained by ECHA.
