Bern, Zurich November 13, 2025 – A day full of discoveries: At CSL Behring, around 20 teachers from 11 upper secondary schools in Bern experienced how fascinating and tangible the world of nanotechnology is. The launch of the “SimplyNano 2” project in the canton of Bern provided exciting insights into a technology of the future. In addition, the participants each received a class set of 12 experiment kits for their schools, packed full of experiments, materials and ideas for the classroom. This makes Bern the 18th canton to implement “SimplyNano 2”. The project brings hands-on science directly into the classroom and makes young people curious about the technologies of tomorrow and the associated professions.

MINT to amaze: research-based learning with an impact
Since 2018, “SimplyNano 2” has been inspiring young people throughout Switzerland for the STEM subjects of mathematics, IT, science and technology. The experiment kits and materials were developed by the SimplyScience Foundation and the Innovation Society. The project with 41 classroom-compatible experiments shows that research is fun and can be experienced directly at school. Thanks to the support of over 30 companies, foundations and associations, the 660 experiment kits and five further training courses are free of charge for schools and teachers in the canton of Bern. The result is effective educational support with lasting benefits.

CSL Behring: Insights into technology and the world of work

As a leading global biotechnology company with around 1,800 employees at its Bern site, CSL Behring develops and produces innovative biotherapeutics from human blood plasma. The company also trains apprentices in various professions and therefore provided the ideal setting for the course. Thulashiga Kanagalingam, Program Manager at CSL Behring, says: “It fulfills me to accompany young talents, to witness their growth and to offer them an environment in which they feel valued. That’s why we are excited to support young talent in an inspiring way with SimplyNano 2.” Ricarda Zech from the Innovation Society St. Gallen adds: “SimplyNano 2 is learning with head, heart and hand. Teachers experience for themselves what they later pass on in the classroom – and this also inspires their pupils.” In addition to the experiments, the “SimplyNano 2” project provides teachers with practical insights into companies and technical professions as well as exciting areas of research.

A project that opens doors

“SimplyNano 2” stands for practical education, innovative teaching and learning methods and close cooperation between schools and business. This creates new perspectives for young people and inspires the skilled workers of tomorrow today. Find out more: www.simplynano.ch
