Building Award honors engineering achievements and promotion of young talented people
The Building-Award is the award for exceptional engineering achievements in construction. It was established in 2015 by the Swiss foundation bilding Bauwesen. Outstanding, remarkable and innovative engineering achievements in construction and projects for the promotion of young talent are evaluated and awarded. The award is presented in the following categories:
- "Building Construction"
- "Infrastructure Construction"
- "Energy and Building Technology"
- "Research and Development"
- "Young Professionals"
- "Promotion of young professionals in the field of technology"
The SimplyNano project was nominated in the "Promoting young professionals" category.
Awakening enthusiasm for technology
SimplyNano aims to get learners excited about technology and secure the next generation of skilled workers with gripping, hands-on experiments. The learning medium, initiated by the SimplyScience Foundation and developed by the Innovation Society, combines teaching aids, materials, continuing education courses for teachers and direct networking between schools and companies. SimplyNano thus pursues a new, integrative approach to promoting young talent and technology by inspiring learners, training teachers and networking with training companies. Thanks to financial support from partners and sponsors, all components of the learning medium can be provided free of charge.
In use throughout Switzerland from 2025
SimplyNano 2 is already available in 4 cantons (AG, SG, AR, AI) in all upper grades. From the fall of 2021, the learning medium will also be used in schools in the canton of Zurich. This will reach 30% of Swiss upper school students. By 2025, SimplyNano 2 learning media will be available to all secondary schools throughout Switzerland. SimplyNano takes a new, integrative approach to promoting young talent and technology by inspiring learners, training teachers and networking with training companies. Through sponsorship, all components of the learning medium can be provided free of charge and future professionals can be reached. The project is widely supported by education directors, foundations and companies and inspires learners and teachers.
Nomination as appreciation for project and partners
The award nomination of the SimplyNano project is a tribute to the success achieved so far and the great support of the numerous partners. The educational project is competing against four other exciting projects. The winning project will be selected on November 2 by a top-class jury headed by ETH Rector Prof. Sarah Springman. We are excited and looking forward to a great event.
