Successful launch of the SimplyNano 2®-Project in Aargau

The project was launched back in March 2018 in a press conference at the Hightech Zentrum Aargau. This event was headed by the magistrate and head of department Alex Hürzeler and followed up with a large and entirely positive reaction from the media. Several regional, cantonal and national media have reported in app. 15 articles which are attached to the final report of the project.

The project has resulted in 70 schools being equipped with a total of 550 experimental kits. Teachers were introduced and trained in the SimplyNano 2® experiments during a total of eight training courses that took place either in schools or generously hosted by companies with residence in Aargau. More than 100 teachers participated in these workshop courses. One half of the project expenses were contributed by the Lotteriefond of Canton Aargau, while the other half was provided by foundations, associations, and the Swiss Nanoscience Institute (SNI) of the University of Basel. Teachers were able to receive courses and experimental kits for free, due to the generous support of these partners.

Because of the very positive experience made with this pilot project, the SimplyNano 2® project is expected to be used in other cantons of Switzerland in the future. The experimental kits and training courses aim to serve the fight against skill shortage and to spark an interest in students for science and technology. Moreover, it is also in sync with Switzerland’s new syllabus that is now making its way into classrooms throughout the country.
